TEDxCorbin, an independently produced, sold-out event operated under license from TED, featured talks from speakers on the experiences they’ve accrued within their industries, through risk-taking in rural America, in overcoming personal hardship, and by envisioning a more vibrant, economically-viable Eastern Kentucky.
Speakers were selected after a competitive application process that resulted in a wide-ranging group of 17 farmers, artists, academics, chaplains, and even reptile zoo owners. Each speaker’s talk was 18 minutes or less. TEDxCorbin’s performances from local artists also aligned with its theme of “grounded.”
Talks were split into three sessions of an hour and a half each, broken up by lunch at Central Baptist Church and interactive exhibits and workshops at Second and Main in downtown Corbin. An after-party headlined by Chelsea Nolan also took place at Second and Main.
