Stability gives us time to reflect and be present. To express gratitude for the people and places we love. To count our blessings.
Central Appalachia is a region with a rich heritage and a deep history of cultural contributions now taken for granted by the greater population. In a region all too used to turmoil, one thing has remained constant: a well-established sense of, and appreciation for, place. In this time of global uncertainty, we find ourselves turning to what matters most and asking new questions like: how do we move forward?
At the first-ever TEDx event in Appalachian Kentucky, we are joining the global conversation. We'll hear from a diversity of voices exploring what it means to move ourselves forward together. We'll hear inspiring ideas and challenge our own notions of what's possible. We'll ground ourselves in the bonds we share and together we'll examine how we got here and where we go next.
What is TEDx?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxCorbin, where x = independently organized TED event.
At our TEDxCorbin event, TED Talks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
